What is the student population served by ETS?

First, Educational Talent Search by law is designed to serve limited-income, first generation students. The program is not defined by race, gender, physical challenges or special educational needs; it is defined by limited-income, first generation.

Second, according to federal regulations, ETS “identifies qualified youths with potential for education at the postsecondary level and encourages them to complete secondary school and undertake a program of postsecondary education”. The key words are:

  • potential for postsecondary education
  • undertake a program of postsecondary education

ETS students must have the academic ability and commitment to pursue postsecondary education beyond high school. ETS is not a remedial program for high school graduation; rather it is a preparatory program for postsecondary education.

What schools does Educational Talent Search serve?

Because of limited federal funding, ETS does not provide services to all schools in New Hampshire. See the schools ETS serves.
