EARLY ARRIVAL

THE EARLY ARRIVAL REQUEST FORM CLOSED ON 08/09 AND WE ARE NO LONGER ACCEPTING REQUESTS. Students who have a need to arrive before their assigned move-in day can request an early arrival move-in request via their Housing Portal. The form is located in the My Booking section once logged into the portal. Choose the Fall semester as the term and locate the link to the request form.

Timeslots

All students moving in on the dates above will arrive according to a timeslot. Timeslots serve as a 1-hour arrival window in which students show up to their residence hall / on-campus apartment to move in. You can arrive anytime in the hour you are assigned. Your drop-off of items is quick - drive up, drop your items, and move your vehicle to parking.

RESIDENCE HALLS

Students in the residence halls will be assigned a move-in timeslot. Assigned timeslots will be communicated to students and available in their Housing Portal in mid-July.

If a student would like to change their assigned move-in timeslot, an opportunity to switch to a different available timeslot on the same day will be available in late July.

ON-CAMPUS APARTMENTS

Students in The Gables and Woodside apartments will sign-up for a move-in timeslot. Information will be communicated to apartment residents in mid-July 2024 when timeslot sign-up is available.

Be Prepared for Any Weather

Sun or rain - move-in will happen! We encourage you to be prepared for any type of weather.

Packing Information

Packing smart will help to reduce the amount of time it takes you to move into your on-campus room, along with reducing any stress!

  • Bring the UNH ID that was mailed to you. If you submitted your ID photo online and your ID card was mailed to you during the summer, be sure to bring it with you! If you did not receive your ID card in the mail before move-in, you will get your ID once you arrive to campus.
  • Pack in reusable containers. Think green! Packing your belongings into reusable containers that are easy-to-carry is a key factor to a smooth move-in. Transporting containers in/out of your vehicle and into the building is easier than loose items - and helps to save space in your vehicle if you take items out of their original packaging. They also help with organizing your belongings so that unpacking is a breeze!
  • Label, label, label. Label all of your boxes with your name, building, and room number. This makes it simple to know what is yours and avoids any move-in mix-ups as things are moving around.
  • Pack light. You will be moving your belongings around and may have to carry items up multiple flights of stairs. Make it easy on yourself and pack light!
  • Bring a dolly. Feel free to bring your own dolly or easy-to-pack moving cart! While some of our buildings have carts available, buildings without elevators do not. Bringing your own dolly can help to make your move-in easier!
  • Think about your shoes and clothing - and bring a water bottle. We can't stress enough to wear cool clothing and comfortable shoes! A water bottle to fill at our many hydration stations is important too. You'll be going up and down, back and forth - be prepared for it!
  • Take pictures and enjoy yourself! These are the moments you will want to remember. Snap a pic with your family and friends, roommate, your new space, on campus, etc. Share it and post it with the hashtag #UNHWildcats!

To-Do List

Before you arrive to campus in August, there are many important items on your to-do list. Be sure to review each one to determine how it applies to you!

SEE YOUR ROOM IN 3D

Once you have a housing assignment, you can view your room in 3D with Roomie. To access your room, log into the Housing Portal and open your assignment in the "My Booking" menu. Through Roomie you can also try out decorations and room essentials in your 3D room - and then purchase them if you like how it looks!

MAKE ROOMMATE CONNECTIONS

Reach out to your roommate(s)! Roommate emails are located in the Housing Portal in the "My Booking" menu. Share phone numbers, social media accounts, and get to know your roommates. Be sure to discuss what each person will contribute to the room - you don't want to end up with multiple of something you only need one of!

INSURE YOUR BELONGINGS

UNH is not responsible for lost or damaged items in your room. We strongly encourage all students to obtain renters insurance or check with their family's insurance to make sure that valuables brought to campus are covered. UNH has partnered with GradGuard, which protects students belongings from theft, fire, smoke damage and other types of losses. All students are eligible to purchase coverage.

SUBMIT HEALTH REQUIREMENTS

All new UNH students taking at least one in-person course are required to submit health forms prior to arriving on campus. If information is not submitted, you could experience delays on move-in day and registration holds. Visit the UNH Health & Wellness website for a list of required vaccinations and where to submit proof. For questions, reach out to Health & Wellness.

REVIEW UNH POLICIES

Being a UNH student and living on campus means you are part of a community and have responsibilities within and to that community. Review the Room & Board Agreement, as well as the Student Rights, Rules and Responsibilities, to be sure that you know what is expected of you as a UNH Wildcat.

SUBMIT YOUR ID PHOTO

Your UNH ID card is used for more than just identification purposes - it's how you access your on-campus housing building and/or room, enter the dining halls, get on Wildcat transit, and so much more. Submit your ID photo online in the summer so that your ID card can be mailed to you before you arrive to campus in August! Learn more on the UNH Campus Services website.

LOOK UP YOUR MAILING ADDRESS

Students in the residence halls are assigned a mailbox in the Granite Square Station (GSS) located in the Memorial Union Building (MUB). Students in The Gables and Woodside apartments have on-site mailboxes and begin to accept mail when classes begin. See our Mail website for more information, including how to locate your mailing address and when you can begin to have items delivered.

Be sure to check your UNH email all summer long! A lot of important information about getting started at UNH will be sent to you.

Map Your Route

On major move-in days (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) follow the signage and police officers throughout campus to help guide you. Plan your route ahead of time by looking up your hall-specific directions!

Find Your Hall-Specific DirectionS

Pro Tip: Don't follow your phone or vehicle's GPS directions. Many roads on campus and in the surrounding community are adjusted or closed for move-in. Follow our hall-specific instructions to be sure you easily get to your hall!

The Move-In Process

Know what to expect when you move-in by reviewing the move-in process for your hall:         Residence Halls         The Gables & Woodsides

Residence Hall Move-In

  1. Arrive to your hall during your assigned timeslot by following our hall-specific directions. Join the line for your hall and wait for your turn to unload.
  2. Unload your vehicle! When it's your turn, unload your vehicle at the designated unloading zone for your hall. Unloading is meant to be quick! Drop your items so that your vehicle can be moved to parking and keep the line moving. Staff and volunteers may be available to assist you, depending on the day and hall.
  3. Move vehicle to parking. Once your quick unload is complete, you will be directed by UNH staff to the parking most appropriate for your residence hall. In many cases, this is A Lot.
  4. Check-in at your hall! Your hall will have a check-in area, where you will let staff know that you have arrived. Checking in with staff activates the access to your hall on your UNH ID. If your room has a key, you will be given your room key at this time.
  5. Move-in! Now that you are checked in, you can start to move your belongings to your room. Some halls offer large, wheeled carts that you can use to move items more easily. Elevators (in halls that have them) may be limited only to carts and individuals with accessibility needs. Please note that not all residence halls have elevators.
  6. Remove any trash and recycling from the building. Flatten boxes and bag trash! Each hall has a designated area for trash and recycling - check with hall staff about the location for your hall.
  7. That's it! Welcome to your new home! Take time to setup your room and get comfortable.
  8. Making trips to the store? We ask that once you have checked in that you do not come back through the drop-off line. If you have to go to the store or bring additional items after your initial drop-off, please park in Lot A and carry your items to your hall. Or, bring the items later and wait until a non-move-in day when it is less busy.

On-Campus Apartments Move-In (Gables & Woodside)

  1. Arrive to your apartment complex during your chosen timeslot by following our building-specific directions. Join the line for your complex and wait for your turn to unload.
  2. Unload your vehicle! When it's your turn, unload your vehicle at the designated unloading zone for your building. Unloading is meant to be quick! Drop your items so that your vehicle can be moved to parking and keep the line moving.
  3. Move vehicle to parking. Once your quick unload is complete, you will move your vehicle to the appropriate on-campus parking lot (The Gables, Woodside, or Lot A). Students with a Gables or Woodside permit can park in those lots. Visitors can park for the day in Lot A.
  4. Check-in! Each apartment complex will have a check-in area, where you will let staff know that you have arrived. Checking in with staff activates the access to your hall on your UNH ID. If your room has a key, you will be given your room key at this time.
  5. Move-in! Now that you are checked in, you can start to move your belongings to your room. Large, wheeled carts that you can use to move items more easily may be available. Please note that Woodside apartments do not have elevators.
  6. Remove any trash and recycling from the building. Flatten boxes and bag trash! Each complex has a designated area for trash and recycling - check with apartment staff about the location for your complex.
  7. That's it! Welcome to your new home! Take time to setup your room and get comfortable.
  8. Making trips to the store? We ask that once you have checked in that you do not come back through the drop-off line. If you have to go to the store or bring additional items after your initial drop-off, please park in a parking lot and carry your items to your room. Or, bring the items later and wait until a non-move-in day when it is less busy.
