FIRST YEAR & UPPERDIVISION | TRADITIONAL-STYLE HOUSING | MEAL PLAN REQUIRED |
First opened in 1925, Hetzel Hall underwent a complete renovation and reopened in 2025 for its 100th year. The building is comprised of all traditional-style housing, with semi-private community bathrooms. Boasting a beautiful outdoor patio and indoor kitchen and lounge, Hetzel is a great place for students to live and socialize with others. Hetzel is located at one of the corners of campus and is in the heart of downtown Durham - steps away from local shops and places to eat. Part of a shared quad with other residence halls, Hetzel is located near the Memorial Union Student Building (MUB).
Students do not receive mail at the building. Student mailboxes are at the Granite Station Square (GSS) in the Memorial Union Building.
