Investigations and Assessment in Solution-Based Child Protection explores the principles common to all investigative processes and unique principles for the investigation and assessment of child physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect. Participants will learn the factors to consider in planning and conducting investigations. Participants will learn the complexity of conducting thorough and accurate assessments through the concepts of critical thinking. Key concepts include, among others, conducting interviews, safety planning, unique features of physical abuse, sexual abuse, and neglect, structured decision making, safety vs. risk, protective authority, and factors that may contribute to the child’s safety.
