We are excited to share upcoming programming sponsored by E3:

STUDENT EXPERIENCES OF LEARNING (SEL) SURVEY – EDUCATION, EXPERIENCES, AND ENHANCEMENTS

We welcome you to join the conversation about the Student Experiences of Learning (SEL) Survey! 

This is an interactive workshop, where you will be able to have meaningful discussions with your collages.  This time is designed for you to be able to choose how you would best be served by discussions about SEL surveys. You will be able to self-select your focus for this discussion time in one of the following three groups: . 

Education: If you are new to the SEL survey, you will learn about how this relatively new course feedback survey is administered and how you can utilize the results. 

Experiences: If you have some familiarity with the SEL survey, you can discuss your current experiences with your peers also interpreting SEL survey results for their courses. 

Enhancements: If you are looking for ways to leverage your SEL survey results for continuing to develop and document your teaching, you will be able to discuss with your peers how to enhance the power of SEL surveys in your courses and in your teaching portfolios.

Problem-Solving Lunches

Each discussion will be an opportunity to discuss a current problem in higher education or an issue relevant to UNH colleagues.
They will be one-hour discussions during lunch on Mondays monthly this fall, but they will be Tuesdays in the spring (to accommodate different schedules). 

  • September 23rd : Identifying specific UNH policy needs around Artificial Intelligence  
                          11:00 am - 12:00 pm virtually OR from  12:00pm - 1:00 pm in-person (bring your lunch).

  • October 21st :  Skills and literacies that graduates may need for the everchanging and digital world.

Teaching and Learning Book Club on Inclusive Pedagogy

The Teaching and Learning Book Club is a 3-session series in which participants read a book related to teaching and learning. During each of the hour-long discussions we will explore the themes from the book and how you might apply what you have learned in your courses. 

Session Dates: 

  • 10/1 : 1:00 - 2:00 pm
  • 10/15 : 1:00 - 2:00 pm
  • 10/29: 1:00 - 2:00 pm

Fall Semester 2024 Book – Inclusive Pedagogy Focus 

Inclusive Teaching: Strategies for Promoting Equity in the College Classroom (First Edition)

In this book, Hogan and Sathy describe approaches for creating and maintaining an inclusive course. This is a topic that is currently receiving a lot of attention nationally. As we work our way through this book, we will discuss how the readings might relate to courses you teach.

Academic Project Design - Collaborative Support from E3 & the Writing Program Presents: Pedagogical Support for Large-Scale Student Project Design and Writing

Educational Excellence and Effectiveness (E3) and Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) will co-host this 4-part semester long series, where we will discuss empirically supported methods for instructors to help students successfully design, complete, and write-up large projects for honors, capstones or Master’s or Doctoral theses.    

Many UNH instructors and faculty help students to complete projects and theses at the undergraduate and graduate level in disciplines across the university. However, there is not currently any programming to help instructors and faculty learn about and discuss pedagogical approaches to support student project design, implementation, and writing for these large projects, which are often beyond the scope of a single semester’s coursework.

This new program will feature a multi-part series where pedagogical experts from E3 and writing support experts from WAC collaborate to help instructors and faculty develop appropriate teaching procedures to support students in these challenging large-scale project tasks. We will discuss teaching methods for supporting students completing these projects in all disciplines. The first two sessions are for projects in any discipline. The final two sessions will be discipline specific: you can attend just one or both of the following: STEM projects & Humanities Projects.

UNH Colleague Networking Events This Fall

We are promoting networking with UNH colleagues by facilitating connections with peers interested in collaborations that are primarily: teaching based, research focused, or grounded in community.

Please fill out the brief attached Qualtrics survey if you would like to participate in networking events where you can meet other UNH faculty and staff interested in discussing teaching, research, building community on campus or propose another topic.  After you complete the survey, we will reach out with additional details about the networking event to connect you with colleagues.  We will begin scheduling these based on interest.
