Wired broadband reaches 94% of U.S. homes

Updated analysis reflects continuing march of fixed broadband networks in 2014.

Close to 94% of residences in the U.S. can receive broadband Internet service from a wireline network as of August 2014, according to our analysis of recent data on the subject.

Here's the report showing the percentage of households that can receive fixed broadband, plus a breakdown of subscriptions by market segment, including total homes and homes with access to broadband:

The data show that among households that do not subscribe to broadband, about 20% lack service because it's not available to them
