Frequently Asked Questions

Students in the 9th-12th grades may apply to the program if they and their parents/ guardians meet citizenship, income and/or educational guidelines. To find out whether you are eligible to apply, visit the application section of this website or contact the Academic Advisor who works with UB students at your school.

UB is funded by federal tax dollars and is free to eligible participants. The program also offers periodic cash stipends to participants who meet program standards, as well as fee waivers for college applications, the SAT and the ACT.

Student participants are encouraged to remain in Upward Bound throughout high school as long as they are in good academic standing and stay committed to the program’s goals.

UNH Upward Bound’s program design has been developed and refined for over 50 years! It combines a safe, well-supervised atmosphere with high-quality college-preparatory classes and a wide range of cultural and social experiences. UB participants become more confident and effective high school and college students because they have completed a college-preparatory experience in an environment that points them in the direction of good planning and sound decision-making.
