Kyla was a Communication Sciences and Disorders major. On-campus, Kyla was an active member of Seacoast Reads where she helped children read and provided emotional support to those who need extra attention. She was also a member of the United Asian Coalition in order to learn about the diverse cultures of the fellow members. Kyla was doing a fellowship at an after school program called St. Stephen's Youth Program. She created a series of STEM-based lesson plans to encourage critical thinking skills children can apply to their future careers. She hoped to gain leadership skills by teaching elementary school counselors. Her passion for science, diversity, and her love of working with kids made her eager to see the impact she made on the Boston community.
