Semester in the City (SITC) students intern full-time at a mission-driven organization in Boston, navigating life in the city along with a professional job. At the end of the experience, students give 5-minute TED-style talks about their biggest take-aways from the experience - demonstrating incredible personal and professional growth. Two students in the Fall 2024 SITC cohort were also recognized for their outstanding work during the semester.

Semester in the City Fall 2024 Awardees

Professional Excellence:

Jordan Wright ‘27, Community and Environmental Planning and Sustainability dual major
“Jordan was the Membership Outreach Fellow at Leading Cities and recognized for her professional excellence during her full-time internship during the fall semester. Her overall goal was to increase participation in Leading Cities Programs and make them as valuable as possible to current and future members.
Jordan's work was without a doubt indistinguishable from the other full-time employees at her organization. Her mentor, Mike Lake, said, "We love Jordan. She came into the team, and it's like she's always been here. She dives right in, figures things out, and is a very impressive individual."

Project Leadership:

Jordan Vitale ’25, Communications
“Jordan greatly contributed to FriendshipWorks in several areas in the organization. She updated and edited the Transportation and Escort Guide to include relevant information for older adults. She also conducted and analyzed satisfaction surveys for clients, then created a report to summarize the results of these surveys. On top of this, she participated in many medical escorts, where she assisted older adults with transportation to their medical appointments and helped them navigate any associated challenges. Based on her interest in social media and communications, she took on the task of creating two social media videos to boost volunteer enrollment in the organization. She was able to successfully navigate a change in her role while also contributing greatly to the organization for years to come.”
