Artist Bio

I am an artist based in Danby, VT. For many years, I was in St Paul and Minneapolis, Minnesota and Stockholm, WI. Forty years ago, I lived in Dover, NH and taught drawing at UNH.

The work I do now has its roots in the research behind the public installations that I have worked on for the last thirty years. This has led to an exploration of fiber and textile systems, of geology and landform and the maps that describe it, of microbiological structures and more.

Artist's Statement

The two sculptural pieces here at Huddleston Hall, based on maps, are part of a series about the seacoast area. They investigate the intersection between the simple, flat surface of water and the landforms it bumps against. I'm interested in the lively line that describes a body of water's meeting with its shore–articulating coves, pockets, fascinating hidden bits. These pieces are carved and painted wood and aluminum plate.
