Honors Gateway Experiences put community first.
These experiences are designed to help new Honors students build connections with fellow students, staff, and faculty while gaining new knowledge and skills. Gateway Experiences range from multi-day outdoor retreats to book clubs to one-time workshops.
►Each Honors student needs to complete 4 Gateway Experiences.
►Once these 4 experiences are complete, you'll receive 2 Honors Units.
Sample Gateway Experiences
In this early-arrival experience, students spend three days and two nights engaging with a small group of Honors peers, forming relationships, and challenging themselves in nature. Counts as 3 Gateway Experiences. August 21-23.

Learn about the Honors College curriculum, meet Honors College students and staff, and explore Huddleston Hall. Required for first-year Honors students. Tuesday 8/27 OR Thursday 8/29, 12:40-1:30.
This student group plans and hosts community offerings for Honors College students. Earn up to 2 Gateways by participating in 90% of meetings or by becoming a leader of the group. Meetings on Tuesdays, 6-7 PM.
Hosted by Honors College Assistant Director Andrew Ferris. Film(s) TBD. Popcorn provided. Attend all 3 meetings to earn 3 Gateway Experiences. Thursdays, 9/12, 9/26, and 10/7, 7:30-9:30 PM.
Club members choose a book to read and discuss with Honors Advisor Daphne Chevalier. Attend all 3 meetings to earn 3 Gateway Experiences. Tuesdays, 10/15, 10/29, and 11/19, 7-8 PM.
Bring your classwork or creative work to develop in a supportive environment with Honors Associate Director Kate Gaudet. Attend all 3 meetings to earn 3 Gateway Experiences. Wednesdays, 10/16, 10/30, and 11/13.
Learn to cook fresh, quick, and budget-friendly dishes with Honors Community Coordinator Emily Schoonmaker. Attend all 3 meetings to earn 3 Gateway Experiences. Tuesdays, 9/17, 10/1, 10/15, 7:30-9 PM.
Start your morning with Honors Director Catherine Peebles and work on turning your dreams and ambitions into concrete goals and next steps. Attend all 3 meetings to earn 3 Gateway Experiences. Thursdays, 10/3, 10/17, and 10/31, 8:00-9:30 AM.
UNH Outdoor Education Grad Students lead fun and informative excursions in UNH's beautiful (mostly flat) College Woods. Attend all 3 meetings to earn 3 Gateway Experiences. Dates TBD.
