UNH Tech Camp is a set of summer programs for students entering grades 5-12 designed to increase STEM literacy. The programs engage students in interactive, hands-on, problem-solving activities in areas of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). Offered through the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Tech Camp provides students with access to state-of-the-art facilities, advanced technology, and award-winning faculty. Since its beginning, Tech Camp has fostered a diverse and inclusive community, making STEM education available to all curious learners.

These Tech Camp sessions are held on the UNH Durham campus. Space in all programs is limited.

Commuter and Overnight options are offered. Camp runs 8:30am-4pm for day students.

Sponsored (FREE of cost) programs are made possible through the generous support of the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation.

Not all programs are sponsored. Tuition for non-sponsored programs is $700 per week for day students and $1,350 per week for overnight students. There are a limited number of scholarships available for students applying to the non-sponsored programs. You will be asked to indicate on your application if you wish to be considered for financial assistance.

*Camp begins Sunday evening, July 7 for overnight campers.

To request a drop from a Youth Program, email youth.programs@unh.edu or contact the Program Manager. Please include the full name of the participant and clearly state the camp and session(s) to be dropped.

CampDoc: UNH has partnered with CampDoc to quicken the enrollment process. Enrollments and payments will still be done here through our current enrollment system, but no registration questions will be required at that time. Within a few days of enrolling, the email provided in the Student/Family Account will receive an email prompting completion of the registration questions.

It is important that a parent/guardian respond to the CampDoc email and complete the registration questions promptly. Families who enrolled a child through our current enrollment system in 2023 will already have a CampDoc account. A parent/guardian will need to log into the student’s account and complete any necessary questions for this program. A participant’s CampDoc profile must be 100% complete before they can attend the program.

TechSplorers A: This program cycles through a variety of fun-filled STEM topics, which may include forensic science, computer coding, circuit building, freshwater ecology, kitchen chemistry, domino toppling, and more. All explored through dynamic, hands-on activities. Each day is a new adventure!

 

TechVentures A:

  • Bridge Project - How many times a week do you walk or drive over a bridge? How difficult would it be for you to access things like school, stores, or even your friends and family if bridges were not safe and reliable? Bridges are a critical piece of infrastructure that we often take for granted, but without them life as we know it would look very different! Students in this program will design and model a bridge to meet the specific needs of a New Hampshire community. Activities will include testing engineering materials and analyzing data to determine optimal materials; discovering the physics behind existing New Hampshire bridges; and exploring the interaction between bridges and their surrounding environments. Campers will serve as the civil engineer in charge. Let the challenge begin!
  • Ripping Rocketry Project - In this fast-paced program, we are going to design, fabricate, and test rockets and other air propelled projectiles! These paper-based pneumatic rockets are going to be created to complete different missions every day. Some rockets are going to be used to hit targets, some are going to be tested on how high they can travel, others on how fast and far they can travel. We are going to be studying the history of rocket engineering, as well as the basics of measuring trajectory and accuracy. Have a blast learning about rockets!
