Student Permit Pre-sales Info

2024-'25 permits will be available to order starting on July 29 with some changes to policy & procedureIn preparation for the sales, please review the permit DESCRIPTION and information, and then prepare your account at the online ordering site so it's ready to go when sales get underway.
 

I. Learn about the student permit types:

Who is eligible?

To buy a commuter permit, you must live over 1 mile from campus and >.25 mile from any Campus Connector or in-town Durham Wildcat Transit stop.   Eligibility Check.

Not Eligible:

Students residing at Cottages, Lodges, Rivers Edge, Madbury Commons, and at any private living space within the commuter permit eligibility zone, including fraternities & sororities , or in campus housing are NOT ELIGIBLE for a commuter permit and risk standard enforcement for getting one.

Price:

$100.  Limited refunds available for partial-year use, see refund policy.

Availability:

Commuter permits do not sell out.

Where to park:

Lot A, Lot M, Lot G1, Moiles Lot, Mast Road Lot, Mathes Lot, Lot S, West Edge Lot.

Who is eligible?

Resident permits are limited to non-freshmen campus residents, as follows:

  • Gables permits restricted to non-freshman residents of the Gables complex.
  • Woodside permits restricted to non-freshman residents of the Woodside complex.
  • Resident East permits available to on-campus non-freshman residents,  excluding Gables & Woodside residents.
  • Strafford permits available to any non-freshman on-campus residents.  [Note: Fraternities & sororities are OFF campus]
Price?

$550 for an academic year.  Limited refunds available for partial-year use, see refund policy.

PERMIT Availability?

Resident core permits are EXTREMELY LIMITED, issued on a first-come-first-served basis, and will sell out (wait list). 
Please allow that with the high demand for these types, you might not get one.

Where to park:
  • Gables permit:  Gables Lots only.
  • Woodside permit:  Woodside Lots only.
  • Resident East permit:  Lot E, Lot E1, Lot E1, Evergreen Lot
  • Strafford permit:  Strafford Lot only (permit not valid in Strafford Ave spaces).

Who is eligible?

Resident West permits are limited to non-freshmen campus residents of any UNH Housing residence hall or complex. 
Not eligible, students residing in off-campus housing.

PricE?

$400 for an academic year.  Limited refunds available for partial-year use, see refund policy.

PERMIT Availability?

Resident West permits are LIMITED, issued on a first-come-first-served basis, and will sell out (wait list).
Please allow that with the high demand for these types, you might not get one.

Where to park?

Resident West permits are valid in the West Edge Lot, Mast Road Lot, and Mathes Lot

Who is eligible?

Any grad, senior, or junior not in on-campus housing.  (Typically for students living in local private housing in Durham.)  Effective '24-'25, sophomores & freshman are NOT eligible for a Non-Resident permit.

Price?

$750 per academic year (fall/spring semester).  Limited refunds available for partial-year use, see refund policy.

Availability?

Non-Resident permits are extremely limited, issued first-come-first-served to eligible applicants, and will sell out (wait list).
Please allow that with the high demand for this permit type, you might not get one. 

Where To park?

Non-Resident permits are valid in the West Edge, Mast Road, and Mathes lots only.

Who is eligible?

Any non-freshman campus resident or off-campus resident of any year.  Campus residents may bring EITHER a car or a moped/motorcycle to campus, but may not bring both.

Price?

$80 per academic year (fall/spring semesters).  Limited refunds available for partial-year use, see refund policy.
Motorcycle permits are free to eligible students who have purchased a commuter parking permit (come to Parking Office).

Availability?

Motorcycle permits usually have unlimited availability for eligible applicants. 
Moped permits are limited, are subject to sell out, but typically have good availability.

Where To park?

Motorcycles may park in spaces designated with "Motorcycle Parking" signs.  Moped may park in designated areas with "Moped Parking" signs.

II. Prepare/verify/update your PermitStore.com account!

This is for pre-sale account creation/updating only.  You will not be ordering a permit until they go on sale.
