As the coronavirus pandemic creates unprecedented challenges for all aspects of society, UNH offers resources and expertise to help communities and businesses address it. The following sector-specific resources offer many ways to partner with UNH; contact Justine Stadler for more information. UNH Cooperative Extension provides planning support, technical assistance, and strategy implementation support to farm and farm-based businesses and to the forest industry to help them manage through the COVID-19 crisis. Check out the interactive Food Access Map and Farm Products Map.

NH Sea Grant and Sea Grant Extension developed a COVID-19 Resource Page to support the fishing and seafood industry, including links to Financial Assistance resources and guidance on conducting Direct Seafood Sales. Check out the interactive Local Seafood Finder Map to locate seafood retailers, off-the-boat, and home delivery services in New Hampshire.

The Center for Family Enterprise at UNH’s Paul College provides resources for family businesses, including a Family Business Resource Guide to help them through COVID-19.

The Sustainability Institute at the University of New Hampshire runs a number of programs focused on supporting local food systems, including Farm to School and Food Solutions New England.

Nature Groupie has developed a free online COVID-19 safety training module for outdoor volunteers.

UNH’s Institute for Health Policy and Practice hosts resources to help stakeholders understand changes to practice and payment systems in the COVID-19 pandemic. Updated regularly, it includes guidance on telehealth practices.

UNH’s Telehealth Practice Center has compiled a Quick Guide to Best Practices.

The STEM Teacher’s Collaborative: shares a GoogleDoc formed by various STEM groups with help for teachers and parents relating to: 1) getting students and teachers connected to the internet, 2) general advice on teaching online, 3) STEM resources, topic by topic, 4) STEM resources for parents with materials found around their home.

UNH’s Leitzel Center provides a series of Online Resources in K-12 STEM for Parents and Teachers. Many of the activities and resources can be used with little or no access to the internet.

UNH Cooperative Extension developed a suite of resources for educators and parents to help them provide education through the pandemic. Resources include ways engage students in the outdoors, on-line robotics kits, STEM science discovery, and creating belonging while learning on-line.

Hands-on Remote Learning for youth ages 5-18 with a focus on civic engagement, STEM, agricultural science, and healthy living. 4-H learning experiences that families can experience at home or in their neighborhoods with friends. 

Stream Safari Video Series: This Stream Safari video series will walk you through all you need to know to safely and comfortably get out to your nearby stream, river, lake, or pond and explore the water quality. Based on the Stream Safari curriculum from UNH Cooperative Extension's STEM Docent Program, your guides, Sarah and Megan, will define terms & concepts, discuss how to choose a stream site, safety considerations when bringing youth to the stream, collection tools and techniques, and so much more!

Social-Emotional and Mindful Learning (SEML): Resources to help youth understand and manage emotions, establish positive relationships, and demonstrate empathy for others. SEML fosters positive youth development through integrating social-emotional learning and mindfulness education.

NH Sea Grant and Sea Grant Extension offers a Marine Education At-Home resources page with links to marine-related activities, videos, and information for students, parents, and teachers. Includes advice on engaging students in good science practice as outlined in the NGSS.

Seacoast SeaPerch ROV Educator Training: Interested in bringing the SeaPerch ROV program to your class, youth group, or homeschool learning group? Want to learn about virtual options to build ROVs with your students? Attend the Virtual Seacoast SeaPerch Educator Workshop, and learn how to build, and test an underwater Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV).

NH Coastal Adaptation Workgroup, which includes many UNH faculty and staff members, has developed Climate in the Classroom resources for N.H. teachers to build climate literacy at the middle and high school levels.

NH Listens works with school districts to strengthen and integrate authentic engagement of students, families, and community organizations into the life and operation of a school, focusing on building awareness, knowledge and skills of equitable practices. Project components include organizing school board orientations and professional development workshops, engaging with students, and facilitating community-wide dialogues.

The University of New Hampshire's Community Literacy Center (CLC) is a resource for preK-12 learners, families, and educators that supports the literacy learning of area children through collaboration with schools, families, and community organizations.

Youth Mental Health & Wellness: Resources and programs offered to youth and adults who work with them, to demystify the topic of mental illness and promote strategies to support youth in need.

The Classics program in the UNH department of Classics, Humanities and Italian Studies is delighted to present the UNH Classics Lab, a resource for educators who are interested in the ancient world and Latin. These include longer videos and podcasts on Roman culture and short videos on the Latin language. You can also view them at the UNH Classics Channel.

UNH Professional Development & Training offers numerous K-12 Education Workshops in the subject areas of General Education, Paraprofessional & Special Education, Language Arts & Literature, Math & Science, and Counseling & Social Work.

STEM Discovery Lab UNH Manchester: Programs and resources for teachers and youth

Youth Symphony Orchestra – the NH youth symphony orchestra has provided quality orchestral experiences to string students since 2013. The fall, 2020 program will be entirely online. This is a pre-admission program and there is a fee.

The Hubbard Center for Genome Studies provides bioinformatics testing and services.

The John Olson Advanced Manufacturing Center is a state of the art, full-scale manufacturing center providing advanced manufacturing training and services focusing on additive manufacturing, machining, metal forming and industrial internet of things (IIOT).

UNH Water Quality Analysis Laboratory provides high-quality, reasonably priced analyses of water in support of research projects conducted by scientists, students, government agencies, private companies and watershed groups from throughout the university, state and nation.

The University Instrumentation Center offers analytical testing services, instrumentation use training services and consultation, providing access to the majority of analytical instrumentation at the university.

The New Hampshire Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory at UNH specializes in the diagnostics support of UNH research activities, the veterinary community and state and federal wildlife agencies.

The New Hampshire Small Business Development Center at UNH is the leading resource for business advising and education for small to medium businesses in the Granite State. They have a special page dedicated to coronavirus information and resources for businesses.

UNH Innovation (UNHI) serves a front end to New Hampshire businesses and maintains a For Business page that provides access to a variety of resources for N.H. small businesses as well as links to university resources such as the University Instrumentation Center. UNHI also hosts its Wildcatalyst Seminar Series on innovation and commercialization.

UNHI oversees the New Hampshire Innovation Research Center (NHIRC), the state matching grant program to foster innovation at N.H. companies. UNHI also participates in the National Institute of Health (NIH) DRIVEN program, an accelerator hub designed to link businesses (startups), academia and the federal government around critical biomedical innovation and entrepreneurship. Their current focus has been shifted to support Covid-19 innovations. UNHI, in conjunction with the State and the SBDC, provides training for federal small business SBIR/STTR grant proposals – a link to the Small Business Administration Covid-19 page is also provided.

Students and recent alumni of UNH's Peter T. Paul College of Business and Economics are available to engage with businesses and nonprofits in completing corporate consulting projects. These students, many of them unable to experience summer internships or begin jobs due to COVID-19, are seeking opportunities to continue building expertise by working with outside organizations on real-world projects. Startups, established business, nonprofit organizations and government institutions are encouraged to submit project proposals (or problem statements) here. The submission deadline is Monday, June 1 at 5 p.m. Contact Kimberly Clark, director of Career and Professional Success.

New Hampshire Listens is a civic engagement initiative of the Carsey School of Public Policy aimed at creating and sustaining a fair process for public engagement. New Hampshire Listens partners with public officials, organizations, and leaders in all sectors to gather broad input that can lead to improved practice and policy.

The Carsey School of Public Policy has conducted research and published policy briefs related to policy issues surrounding the pandemic. As well, Carsey runs three graduate programs — Master of Public Administration, Master in Community Development, and Master in Public Policy — that give students the tools and skills to work in communities, businesses, and organizations, and ultimately, to make social change.

UNH’s Broadband Center of Excellence has helped the state to enhance its broadband infrastructure, ranging from mapping broadband access to coordinating the stringing of a fiber pipeline across the state.

The Institute on Disability provides a range of resources and supports to help employers, including cities and towns, keep workers safe. Such programs include the occupational health surveillance program, and trainings to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
