Mid-Autumn Festival

Sunday, October 06, 2024 - 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival or Mooncake Festival, is a traditional celebration observed primarily in East Asian cultures, including China, Vietnam, and Taiwan. It falls on the 15th day of the 8th month of the lunar calendar, typically in September or early October. The festival is a time for family reunions, giving thanks for the harvest, and praying for good fortune. Celebrations include moon-viewing, lantern displays, and eating mooncakes, a special pastry filled with sweet or savory ingredients. The full moon symbolizes unity and harmony, making it a significant occasion for families to come together.

The United Asian Coalition of UNH will be collaborating with other cultural organizations to coordinate the Mid-Autumn Festival at UNH. This year, we hope to hold this event as an outdoor event with traditional lantern lights, field games, and traditional food.
