Packages/Mail FAQ

After receiving an email from the GSS letting you know the package or mail is ready for pick up, bring a UNH student ID to the GSS Service Window. A student ID is REQUIRED to pick up any mail or packages! Please be aware that items that are shipped to Granite Square Station through an express service, such as Overnight Express, may be delayed by processing and are not always able to be delivered immediately.
For mobility impaired students, please e-mail gss.mailroom@unh.edu or call 862-MAIL (6245) to discuss accessibility options with a lead staff person.

Granite Square Station is not a post office. All delivery services can deliver to GSS. If the delivery service insists on a street address, please use 83 Main Street for the street address, but be sure to also include the student’s full name and GSS address number so that the package will be delivered correctly.

Yes. However, perishable items should be sent at own risk. When GSS receives a perishable item, such as flowers or a food basket, an email is sent letting the student know they have a perishable package ready to be picked up. The perishable item will sit on a shelf in the mailroom until the student is able to retrieve it. GSS is not able to preserve perishable items that require refrigeration.

30 days after a package arrives it will be returned to the sender.

Packages that arrive over break will be held at the student postal center. It is up to the student to contact the postal center to request that the package is forwarded.  Only USPS first class and priority packages are able to be forwarded, all other carriers do not provide a forwarding service.

Mail FAQ

The US Postal Service (USPS) and UPS both make the delivery to Granite Square Station around 10:00am each morning during the school year. FedEx and DHL make delivery throughout the day. Due to the large volume of mail and packages that come in, GSS cannot guarantee a time each day when mail will be ready for pick up. Mail will be available by the end of the day it is received. Please be aware that items that are shipped to Granite Square Station through an express service, such as Overnight Express, may be delayed by processing and are not always able to be delivered immediately.

You can change your permanent forwarding address through the Registrar's Office.

Addressing FAQ

All freshman and undergraduates up to the age of 24 who do not live in the Gables or Woodside Apartments are automatically assigned a GSS address (including those who live off-campus). If a student is continuing on to Graduate School at UNH, they must e-mail a request to maintain a GSS mailbox number.

All students moving to Gables or Woodside Apartments will no longer have their GSS address.

Any undergraduate or graduate student not automatically assigned an address may request one at the GSS Service Window or by sending us an email with the name and student ID number.

Login to Webcat to find your GSS Address.

If the mail or package is not addressed clearly and correctly, GSS may return it to the sender rather than risk delivering it to the wrong person. All senders should include a complete return address on mail and packages.

For prompt mail and package delivery address each item legibly as follows:

Benjamin Paul Thompson
