Additional Resources

Having the right tools and supplies can go a long way to supporting your education. Below are some resources that may be helpful. We offer resources such as loaner laptops and additional technology and education supports,  transportation, health and medical as well as clothing.

Technology

UNH is committed to helping students who are managing extenuating financial circumstances and need access to the technical resources required to learn and study.

Loaner Laptop Program

Laptop Loner

Due to the large number of requests we have received for laptops we are currently very low on stock and may need to add you to a waitlist.

To request a Loaner Laptop please complete the Loaner Laptop Request Form

If  you have a loaner laptop that you are no longer using, please reach out to basic.needs@unh.edu to return it.

The Loaner Laptop program at UNH helps undergraduate and graduate students who do not have the financial means to access or replace the technical resources required to learn and study. Students who are approved receive a laptop to be used for that semester.

We ask that you handle this laptop with the same care as your own, and in compliance with the USNH Acceptable Use Policy. Please return the laptop to the campus in which you picked it up. Damaged or lost laptops are subject to repair and replacement costs. By borrowing a laptop, you agree and understand the following:

  • This program is for students who do not have a laptop and are managing extenuating financial circumstances that prevent them from getting a new one.

  • The equipment must be in the same condition as when you picked it up or you will be responsible for all repairs or if it is lost. This excludes normal wear and tear.

  • Failure to return equipment by the end of the semester will result in a $500 fine. This can be reversed if equipment is returned.

  • If the equipment is stolen, you must report it to campus police immediately.

  • The loaner equipment must be returned to the Help Desk at the Diamond Library in Room 341 at 18 Library Way, Durham by the last day of finals for each semester or sooner if no longer needed.  Please be sure to include the charger and sleeve that were provided as well.

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled as a degree seeking student
  • Must be verified as eligible for emergency funding by Financial Aid (have completed a FAFSA or do not have credit on their account)
  • In order to keep the laptop for a future semester, you will need to reapply to the program and be enrolled in that semester.

Many of these places give you the option to rent, buy, or purchase after renting. Of course, we recommend that really important books you purchase (like desk references or anthologies that you may need for other classes). It’s worth it.
