Vyas Receives National Recognition for Contributions to Student Leadership Programs

Yashwant Prakash Vyas, director of UNH’s Aulbani J. Beauregard Center for Equity, Justice, and Freedom, was recognized with the Outstanding Contributions to Student Leadership Programs Award from NASPA’s Student Leadership Programs Knowledge Community (SLPKC) at the organization’s 2023 annual conference in Boston, Massachusetts.

"Creole Soul," A Photo Exhibit by Gary Samson, Opens at Seacoast African American Cultural Center

A photo exhibit by New Hampshire’s seventh Artist Laureate, Gary Samson, is now on display at the The Seacoast African American Cultural Center (SAACC), showcasing photos from Creole Soul: Zydeco Lives. The book, released in November 2022 by University Press of Mississippi as part of its American Made Music Series, features interviews with zydeco musicians in Texas and Louisiana conducted by Burt Feintuch, a folklorist, music ethnographer, professor at UNH

2023 Sidore/Dunfey Symposium Explores Ethical, Collaborative and Reparative Aspects of Research

From March 30 through April 1, dozens of scholars in the social sciences and humanities from around the continent met on the UNH campus and at The Browne Center for the 2023 Dunfey/Sidore Symposium, dedicated to discussions on critical and sometimes controversial issues facing our society. This year’s symposium, “The Ethics of Encounter: Research, Communities, and Repair,” explored ethical, collaborative and reparative aspects of social scientists’ research, focusing on restorative justice for communities that have been wronged by history.
