USA TODAY College and College Factual have listed UNH as one of the top places in the United States to study natural resources and conservation.

In its top 10 list for 2017, the publication specifically lauds UNH’s department of natural resources and the environment (NREN). The department “offers six different undergraduate majors, including environmental conservation and sustainability, environmental and resource economics and community and environmental planning,” the report states. In 2017 alone, UNH’s NREN faculty have provided more than 55 undergraduate summer jobs, with 10 of these students receiving various fellowships and some 40 students employed during the academic year. 

“We have truly outstanding faculty and programs in natural resources, with many opportunities for undergraduate and graduate research, internships, field laboratories and study abroad,” says Jon Wraith, dean of the UNH College of Life Sciences and Agriculture and director of the New Hampshire Agricultural Experiment Station. “The department and college are primary contributors to UNH’s national leadership in the areas of sustainability and resources conservation.”

The report also recognizes UNH’s work with EcoQuest “to allow students to participate in unique field studies programs.” UNH students have conducted field research in New Zealand through a partnership with EcoQuest Education Foundation since 1999.

“Due to its reasonable net price and numerous academic opportunities, UNH is considered a great value for your money,” the report states.
