DURHAM, N.H. -- The University of New Hampshire has changed the date for this year's Homecoming celebration to Saturday, Oct. 29, 2011, after realizing the original date, Oct. 8, coincided with the observance of Yom Kippur. University officials apologize for the initial scheduling error as well as any inconvenience the change may cause alumni and friends of the university.

The new date will showcase a home football match against the University of Rhode Island Saturday, Oct. 29, at noon. The weekend also will feature a men's hockey home weekend with ECAC champion Union College Friday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. and Hockey East rival Northeastern University Saturday, Oct. 29, at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Oct. 30, at 2 p.m. volleyball faces America East foe Providence College.

A complete schedule of Homecoming weekend events, including individual college celebrations and spirit activities like Wildcat Colors Day and the parade will be posted at www.alumni.unh.edu/keep/homecoming/

The University of New Hampshire, founded in 1866, is a world-class public research university with the feel of a New England liberal arts college. A land, sea, and space-grant university, UNH is the state's flagship public institution, enrolling 12,200 undergraduate and 2,300 graduate students.
