DURHAM, N.H. -- University of New Hampshire President Mark W. Huddleston announced this week the appointment of Peter B. Weiler to the position of vice president for advancement and president of the UNH Foundation. Weiler comes to UNH from The Ohio State University where he has served as the senior vice president for development and president, The Ohio State University Foundation.  

Prior to Ohio State, Weiler held the position of vice president for development at The Pennsylvania State University. He held a number of other positions at Penn State, including associate vice president for development and alumni relations and assistant vice president and executive director of the Penn State Alumni Association. Weiler also served at the University of Vermont in the development and alumni relations offices, after starting his career at the University of California, Los Angeles.

Weiler assumes his new UNH position on September 30.  

"We are thrilled to have someone of Peter's caliber and talents join us," Huddleston said. "We are extremely fortunate that he has agreed to lead the UNH Advancement group and I know his expertise will bring us to a new level of alumni engagement and fundraising for the University of New Hampshire."

"The vibrant UNH community and people we met during our visits to UNH, combined with the university's visionary strategic plan, sold Karen and me on the decision to move back to the east coast," Weiler said. "Another important element that impressed us about UNH is the strong network of alumni volunteers. UNH is a great university in a beautiful location and also near Karen's and my families. I'm looking forward to joining my new colleagues at the end of September."

"I also want to extend a sincere thank you to Mark Rubinstein who has served as interim vice president of advancement for the past two years in addition to his already demanding responsibilities as the vice president for student and academic services," Huddleston added.  "Mark has done an outstanding job and I am extremely grateful for his service and dedication to UNH."
