UNH Students Partner With Local Families in Spring Service Project At Local Middle School

Tuesday, April 6, 2010

DURHAM, N.H. - A group of about 75 University of New Hampshire students who represent the Hamel Scholars Program, the Greek community, athletic teams and others will participate in a spring service project at Oyster River Middle School Sunday, April 11, 2010, from 10 a.m. -4 p.m.

The Hamel Scholars and Hamel Scholarship recipients have been participating in a leadership development program throughout the academic year, culminating in this collaborative service project with the ORMS. The UNH students and ORMS students and their families will spend the day painting, landscaping and building pride in the community.

If you would like more information about the event, please contact Briana Cribeyer at (603) 866-3470, or check in at the registration table at the event.

The Hamel Scholars Program was established in 2008 through a gift by the Hamel Family. The Hamel Scholars Program has two components with one focusing on high achieving New Hampshire high school students who choose to participate in the Honors Program at the University of New Hampshire and the second recognizing those UNH Honors Program students who, by their junior year, have distinguished themselves by their academic achievement, leadership and service to community.

The University of New Hampshire, founded in 1866, is a world-class public research university with the feel of a New England liberal arts college. A land, sea, and space-grant university, UNH is the state's flagship public institution, enrolling more than 12,200 undergraduate and 2,200 graduate students.
