Murray Straus, the internationally influential professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire and founder of the field of family violence research and the Family Violence Research conference, died May 13 at the age of 89.
His friends and colleagues will hold a memorial to commemorate his life and work during the International Family Violence and Child Victimization Research Conference on Monday, July 11, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the ballroom of the Sheraton Harborside Hotel & Conference Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. All attendees at the conference as well as other members of the community not attending the conference are welcome.
Time will be allocated for all who wish to speak briefly (2-3 minutes) about Straus and his influence. If you wish to speak, please make your intention known to David Finkelhor.
