DURHAM, N.H.—Smuttynose Brewing Company and the University of New Hampshire have partnered to brew an easy-drinking lager to support the university’s brewing science lab, which in turn supports NH’s growing brewing industry. UNH Wildcat Tracks will be distributed throughout the state in cans and on draft beginning this week.

“This collaboration with Smuttynose is a great example of our commitment to working with business and industry throughout the state,” said Marc Sedam, managing director of UNHInnovation. “We were thrilled to working with Smuttynose again and look forward to an ongoing partnership that keeps Wildcat Tracks in the market year-round and as the first of many concepts.”

Wildcat Tracks relays “a soft, juicy aroma with a balanced bite and subtle hop character.” The recipe was developed by Smuttlabs head brewer Charlie Ireland and brewed by a team that included UNH alumnus and head brewer Dan Schubert.

“With both UNH and Smuttynose being iconic New Hampshire establishments, we felt that we could create a product through a partnership that consumers would be excited about,” said Smuttynose CEO Steve Kierstead.

The UNH Brewing Science Laboratory is both a fully equipped professional beverage manufacturing facility and one of the most advanced analytical beer chemistry labs in the state. It supports UNH’s brewing science minor and provides beneficial beer testing services to New Hampshire brewers. A portion of the proceeds from the sale of the beer will support the lab. UNH and Smuttynose encourage responsible drinking for those 21 years of age or older.
