Dr. James Ramsay, professor of security studies at UNH

James Ramsay, professor of security studies and chair of the Department of Security Studies, has received the inaugural Dave McIntyre Homeland Security Educator Award by the Center for Homeland Defense and Security (CHDS). The award, which was established in the memory of noted homeland security expert Dr. David McIntyre, recognizes a member of the CHDS community who has made significant contributions to advancing homeland security research and education. Ramsay was presented the award at the organization's 13th annual Homeland Defense & Security Education Summit held online in November.

Ramsay joined UNH in 2015 to lead the creation of the homeland security bachelor’s degree program, which was the foundation for UNH earning its designation as a Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and National Security Agency. With more than two decades of experience in occupational safety, public health, emergency management, environmental health and security studies, he is widely published on safety and health issues ranging from needlestick injuries to economic analysis, hazardous communications, education standards and accreditation.
