Jenna Horne

Business major Jenna Horne, a University Scholar and president of UNH Manchester's Enactus team, will deliver the student address at the college's Honors Convocation on May 16.

The University of New Hampshire at Manchester will recognize the academic achievements of more than 130 students at the 2017 Honors Convocation on Tuesday, May 16.

One of the university’s largest academic ceremonies, Honors Convocation brings administrators, faculty, staff and students together to celebrate academic success. This year’s event will begin at 6 p.m. at the Radisson Hotel in downtown Manchester, N.H.

Leading the proceedings is UNH Manchester Dean Mike Decelle, with remarks from Nancy Targett, UNH provost and vice president for academic affairs. Samantha Reynolds, lecturer of chemistry and recipient of the 2017 Excellence in Teaching award, will deliver the faculty address.

This year's student speaker is University Scholar and business major Jenna Horne. Horne has been an active part of the campus community since she transferred to UNH Manchester in 2014. She has supported first-year students in adjusting to campus life as a Peer Assistant Leader, assisted with admissions events and projects as Lead Student Ambassador and helped local entrepreneurs find long-term sustainability as president of the college's Enactus team.

Horne is a shining representative of UNH Manchester, whether she is giving prospective students and their families genuine insight into student life on a campus tour, or working with current students to find the resources they need through her role in the campus library. Her leadership, involvement and contribution to campus social life earned her the Leader by Example Award at the college's 2016 and 2017 Student Leadership Recognition Ceremony.

Honors Convocation will recognize Presidential Scholars, University Scholars, inductees of the Phi Beta Kappa and Beta Beta Beta (TriBeta) honor societies as well as recipients of the Writing Across the Curriculum, Undergraduate Research Conference and academic program awards. Congratulations to the following students, who will be recognized for outstanding academic achievement in their undergraduate degree programs.
