UNH Hosts Sale of Poinsettias, Wreaths and Christmas Trees to Support Students

Poinsettias at UNH Thompson School

DURHAM, N.H. – The Thompson School of Applied Science at the University of New Hampshire will host its 13th annual poinsettia open house Thursday, Nov. 29, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, Nov. 30, and Saturday, Dec. 1, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the UNH greenhouses at 13 Botanical Lane. In conjunction with the open house, holiday wreaths and Christmas trees will be for sale.

Fifty varieties of poinsettia will be available for sale and attendees can vote for their favorites.

The Thompson School Horticulture Club will be selling fresh holiday wreaths. Purchase a wreath made by a student, or design your own. Wreaths are $15, and all proceeds will benefit the club’s spring trip to Longwood Gardens.    

The UNH Woodsmen Team will sell Christmas trees in the Putnam Hall parking lot adjacent to the greenhouses. The balsam and Fraser firs for sale are responsibly harvested. Prices range from $30-$70, depending on the height of the tree. Sale dates are Friday, Nov. 30 through Sunday, Dec. 2 and Saturday, Dec. 8 through Sunday, Dec. 9, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Cash and checks are accepted. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the UNH Woodsmen Team events and competitions.
