Novel Iron Works Inc. is a second-generation family-owned company that has been furnishing and erecting structural steel, steel joist, metal deck and miscellaneous metals since 1956. Novel is a woman-owned business enterprise (WBE) certified by the Massachusetts State "Supplier Diversity Office" and currently employs 110 individuals. Novel Iron's third generation is being groomed to take the reins.

Noveletsky will talk about the demands of running a 59-year-old steel fabrication company, dealing with the competition and the ups and downs of the construction industry. Novel prides itself on having a loyal, talented workforce and not laying off employees even in the construction downturns. She will also discuss what it is like to be a woman CEO in a "man's world of structural steel," and how having a Ph.D. in psychiatry can often come in handy.

Noveletsky trained as a psychiatric nurse practitioner and works in both worlds. She is a past president of the Structural Steel Fabricators of New England Association and currently owns two construction companies, Novel Iron Works and Rose Steel. She maintains a small private geriatric psychiatry practice and has volunteered several times with the Red Cross in national disasters and overseas in Sierra Leone's amputee camp working with victims of the Blood Diamond War.
