DURHAM, N.H. - NH Small Business Development Center announces the appointment of Adria Bagshaw, vice president of W.H. Bagshaw Company, as chair of the NH SBDC Advisory Board. Bagshaw has served on the advisory board for four years.

Bagshaw said she is pleased to have a leadership role at the NH SBDC. "SBDC helps small businesses not feel so small," she said.

According to Bagshaw, W.H. Bagshaw utilized NH SBDC services during two pivotal junctures in the company's growth. "I look forward to helping create visibility as to how essential SBDC services are for businesses," she said.

Mary Collins, state director of the NH SBDC, said "Adria was the unanimous choice of the board governance committee to serve as the new chair of the SBDC Advisory Board. She is a great asset to the SBDC program due to her firsthand experience owning and operating a small manufacturing firm in the state, as well as her knowledge of multi-generational family businesses. Adria will be a great spokesperson for the SBDC program and a strong advocate for small business issues in New Hampshire. She follows in the strong footsteps of former chairs Tim Dining from Greenerd Press and James Tibbetts from First Colebrook Bank."

Adria and husband Aaron Bagshaw are the fifth generation of Bagshaws to run W.H. Bagshaw Company, a pin manufacturing company in Nashua. Formed in 1870, the company now performs CNC machining for the medical, aerospace, defense, and high-tech industries.

Bagshaw is an active member of U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen's small business advisory board. Prior to joining W.H. Bagshaw Adria worked for Teradyne Connection Systems in Nashua and Cirtronics Corporation in Milford. She earned her bachelor's in business administration at UNH's Whittemore School of Business and Economics.

NH SBDC is an outreach program of the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business and Economics, and a cooperative venture of the U.S. Small Business Administration, the State of New Hampshire (DRED), the University System of New Hampshire, and the private sector. A part of 64 SBDC programs nationwide, the NH SBDC was fully accredited in 2010 by the Association of Small Business Development Centers. The NH SBDC has advised businesses for 26 years, helping 8,000 businesses create and retain more than 4,500 jobs over the last decade.
