DURHAM, N.H. - The Green Launching Pad will host a community forum on sustainability and entrepreneurship Feb. 22, 2012, at the University of New Hampshire Memorial Union Building. The event, held in the Granite State Room from 6 to 8 p.m., is open and free to the public.

"A Greener Taste of Greater Durham" is a collaborative effort between the Green Launching Pad, UNH student organizations, local restaurants, and Green Launching Pad companies. Food will be provided by local restaurants, including Young's Restaurant, the Bagelry and Mama Mac's. 

"Green Launching Pad is about green innovation by bringing entrepreneurs, businesses, faculty, and students together. This community forum is a great opportunity to showcase the contributions of student interns, local businesses, and Green Launching Pad companies," said Venky Venkatachalam, project director for Green launching Pad and professor and chair at the Whittemore School of Business and Economics. 

"The event is a great networking tool for students, business owners, and organizations interested in sustainability, entrepreneurship, and social and environmental responsibility," said Joe Van Gombos, Green Launching Pad intern and event organizer.

The Green Launching Pad is funded with $1.5 million of federal economic stimulus funds from the U.S. Department of Energy.

Founded in 2010, the Green Launching Pad is a strategic partnership of the University of New Hampshire and New Hampshire Office of Energy and Planning, with funding from the U.S. Department of Energy. The organization connects entrepreneurs and private industry with technical, scientific and business faculty, students and state-level resources to successfully launch and accelerate the growth of new green businesses. The Green Launching Pad is focused on creating new energy-related jobs in the Granite State and broadening economic opportunities.
