Textbook Scholarships Help 50 UNH Students
DURHAM, N.H. - Fifty student employees in the University of New Hampshire Office of Business Affairs are the recipients of $250 textbook scholarships given by Fred Kfoury '64 of Central Paper Products Co. of Manchester.
Central Paper supplies paper and plastic products to UNH. In April 2007, the company agreed to give the university two percent of the total sales, and hoped the plan might become a prototype for other companies. Kfoury, company president and CEO, was on campus on Jan. 31, 2012, to meet the student workers.
"We at Central Paper are pleased to be able to assist the students in their educational pursuits. Having met the students receiving the book scholarships we were very impressed," Kfoury, said. "They are a credit to the university."
The Office of Business Affairs includes Dining Services, Housing, Printing and Mail Services, and Conferences and Catering. Students are recommended for the scholarships by their supervisors.
David May, assistant vice president for Business Affairs said, "It was great to listen to Fred share some wisdom with the students about the importance of working hard at whatever you do." Business Affairs employs more than 750 students.
The University of New Hampshire, founded in 1866, is a world-class public research university with the feel of a New England liberal arts college. A land, sea, and space-grant university, UNH is the state's flagship public institution, enrolling 12,200 undergraduate and 2,300 graduate students.
