UNH Economist Delivers New England Economic Forecast Nov. 18 at UNHM

DURHAM, N.H. - Ross Gittell, the James R. Carter Professor at the University of New Hampshire Whittemore School of Business and Economics, will deliver his economic assessment of the New England economy Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, at the New England Economic Partnership fall conference.

The conference, "New England Economic Forecast and Millennials, Baby Boomers, and New England's Future," begins at 8:30 a.m. and will be held at UNH Manchester, 400 Commercial St. It is sponsored by Northeast Utilities in cooperation with Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire.

Mark Zandi, chief economist with Moody's Analytics, will provide an analysis of the current outlook for the U.S. economy. Gittell's assessment of the New England economic outlook will follow, along with an analysis of the economies of the six New England states by NEEP state forecast managers, including Dennis Delay from the NH Center for Public Policy Studies, who will present the New Hampshire outlook. This will include detailed forecasts of key economic indicators, including employment by industry as well as the outlook for the region's housing markets.

Following lunch, Peter Francese, the partnership's director of demographics, will lead a discussion with the organization's forecast managers about demographics and its effect on the future economy of the six New England states.
