DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire Therapeutic Riding Program is seeking volunteers for its summer session, which runs July 6 through August 18, 2011. Classes are Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Thursday afternoons from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.  Time commitments are flexible and can be as little as 45 minutes, one day per week.

A mandatory training and orientation session for new volunteers will be held Thursday, June 30 from 2 to 5 p.m. in the Light Horse Classroom at the UNH horse barns (Mast Road Extension on the UNH campus). No prior experience with horses or therapeutic riding is necessary. Anyone age 12 or up is welcome to participate.

The UNH Therapeutic Riding Program provides recreational and therapeutic activities to children and adults with all varieties of physical, cognitive and emotional disabilities. Volunteers have direct contact with students, helping to ensure a safe and fun lesson environment, and helping students achieve their therapeutic and educational goals.
