DURHAM, N.H. -- University officials were deeply saddened to learn of the death of 20-year-old Todd Walker, a sophomore in the Whittemore School of Business and Economics at the University of New Hampshire and a member of the UNH football team. Walker, who is from Edwards, Colo., was the victim of a fatal shooting in Boulder, Colorado, during the early morning hours of March 18. He was home on spring break.

"We were deeply saddened to learn of Todd's death and we extend our deepest sympathies to his family and friends," said UNH President Mark W. Huddleston. "Todd was a great kid and he will be missed in our classrooms and on the field. Our focus now will be on supporting the many people in our campus community whose lives he touched."

The university's crisis response team will meet over the weekend in preparation for students returning to campus and UNH counseling staff will be available to students who want to speak with someone. The UNH Counseling Center is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week, and 24-hour help is available to anyone by calling 603-862-2090.
