Bob Barcelona, Ph. D., chair of the department of recreation management and policy, was recently selected as a Fellow in the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration (AAPRA), an organization of distinguished practitioners and scholars committed to the advancement of the park and recreation field. Membership in the Academy is limited to just 125 active fellows. The Academy was formed in 1980 to advance knowledge related to the administration of recreation and parks; encourage scholarly efforts by both practitioners and educators to enhance the practice of park and recreation administration; promote broader public understanding of the importance of parks and recreation to the public good; and conduct research, publish scholarly papers and/or sponsor seminars related to the advancement of park and recreation administration. Barcelona will be officially inducted into the Academy at the National Recreation and Park Association's National Conference in Baltimore, MD in September 2019.
