Mica Stark ’96 has been named the university’s new chief communications officer and associate vice president for communications and public affairs (CPA) effective immediately, reporting to Vice President for Advancement and Foundation President Debbie Dutton. Prior to this promotion, he served as assistant vice president for public affairs, where he oversaw state and federal government relations, media relations, social media, advocacy and leadership communications for the university.
“I’m excited to work with my CPA colleagues to continue to strengthen our brand. UNH is a great university, and our job is to make sure people know that,” says Stark. “As an alum, I am passionate about UNH, and I look forward to working with President Huddleston, the cabinet and the deans to tell our story.”
Stark came to UNH from Saint Anselm College’s Institute of Politics in 2008 as the outreach and engagement director for the Carsey Institute. In addition to a bachelor’s degree in political science from UNH, Stark earned a master’s in political science from Michigan State University and is a 2012 graduate of Leadership New Hampshire. He currently serves on the board of the New Hampshire Women’s Foundation, the community advisory board of N.H. Public Radio and the board of advisors to Stay Work Play.
“Mica brings great experience, commitment and professionalism to this position,” says Dutton. “I am really looking forward to working more closely with him in the months and years ahead.”
