Nine music students and three dance students from UNH will be visiting China May 21-31. The trip is sponsored by the UNH Confucius Institute and is intended to build closer relationships between UNH and Chengdu University. The vocal quartet, woodwind quartet, and dancers, along with a pianist, will perform three programs at Chengdu University (CDU) and Chengdu Institute of Technology. They will meet their Chinese counterparts in informal meetings at CDU and also tour the panda preserve, Great Wall, and other sights. The trip will be led by Yige Wang from the UNH Confucius Institute and two UNH faculty members, Gay Nardone (Professor of Theatre and Dance) and Peggy Vagts (Professor of Music). Several of the pieces to be performed in China were written by Professor Christopher Kies, who also composed a finale for the entire ensemble.
