Michael Thompson, research development associate, received the Rising Star of Excellence award at the National Association of Research Development Professionals (NORDP) annual conference in Denver recently. The award is given to individuals who have worked in the research development profession for at least two years and who have demonstrated exceptional service to their home organization and to NORDP and the research development field.
“In 2013, Michael turned his MFA degree, writing talent and passion to proposal writing and research development in a newly-created position,” says Kathy Cataneo, director of research development at UNH. “He shaped the position with creativity, energy and enthusiasm and has become indispensable to and universally respected by the UNH faculty and senior leadership for his knowledge about sponsor proposal requirements, faculty research activities and how to craft competitive proposals.”
In addition to his work on behalf of UNH researchers, Cataneo says, Thompson shares knowledge and expertise with regional and national colleagues through conference presentations and committee service to NORDP.
