The Alamire Consort will present a program entitled Music of Tudor England at the Time of Shakespeare in the courtyard reading room of Dimond Library on April 14, 2016 at 5:30 pm. Admission is free.
The Alamire Consort is an instrumental/vocal ensemble formed from two early music groups: Capella Alamire, a Renaissance ensemble specialized in Franco-flemish polyphony that began in Cambridge in 1984, and the Hampshire Consort of the University of New Hampshire. The Alamire Consort is a mixed ensemble of voices, viols, harp and Renaisssance winds, which explores the interactions of vocal and instrumental music c. 1500. Members include Robert Stibler, cornetto and recorder, Mindy McMahon, voice and harp, Paul Merrill, sackbut and recorder, and Emily and Peter Urquhart, viols, with special guest soprano Sharon Baker.
