Welcome to your dorm room. It’s the place you’ll sleep, study, hang out, order pizza after the dining halls close and so much more. It might be hard to picture it when you first move in, but with a few tips and tricks, it’ll feel like a second home in no time! The UNH Social Team asked students and alumni what they do to save space, decorate and get their dorm room ship shape. Here are a few of the top tips for achieving your dream room:

1. Try lofting your bed! It’s a great way to get creative with your floor plan.

2. Take advantage of wall space. Use these damage-free methods for hanging storage and decor. Nobody likes a blank space (cue TSwift).

3. Fashion a cork board for form and function. This DIY project has the dual purpose of decorating your dorm, and keeping you organized!

4. Take lighting into your own hands! When you’re having a zen study session, skip the overheads and go for Christmas lights, tea candles and lamps (oh my).
