From the ages of 14 to 18, Emily Quigley lived in the New Hampshire Foster Care System and was a resident for a while at the Dover Children’s Home in Dover, N.H.

After earning a high school equivalency degree, Quigley enrolled in the ABM program, graduating in 2007 with honors. In 2010, she earned her bachelor’s degree in communication. While still a student, Emily was a part-time youth consultant for the state through the Department of Children, Youth, and Families.

Quigley went on to become a business system analyst at Liberty Mutual. Today, she balances motherhood, work, and service on the board of the Dover Children’s Home with her doctoral studies in education at Plymouth State University. “When I was in foster care, it was a big deal just to graduate from high school,” she says, noting that today’s standards are different. “The Thompson School was the first place to make me believe I was capable of more.”
