Aliya heashot

Originally from Southington, Connecticut, Aliya was pursuing BAs in Political Science, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Spanish from the University of New Hampshire, Durham. She was a member and previously held an Executive Board position for the United Asian Coalition and NALA. Additionally, she was a Teaching Assistant, DEI Advisor of the Assistant Vice President Student Advisory Council, participant of the Global Leadership Experience and the Audre Lorde Summit, and employee of the UNH Beauregard Center for Equity, Justice, and Freedom (formerly known as the Office of Multicultural Student Affairs).

During the summer of 2021, Aliya worked with Prime Buchholz LLC to develop the firm’s annual ESG and DEI survey. The purpose of the survey was to collect information regarding the ESG and DEI policies and practices of Prime Buchholz’s investment managers. This information helped to connect Prime Buchholz’s clients with investment managers that reflect their values and mission. Aliya worked with her co-fellow, Jill Durkin, to reach out to ~ 300 investments managers as well as to evaluate and synthesize the ESG and DEI initiatives of the over 200 investments managers who responded. She helped to develop a DEI rubric to quantify the DEI initiatives and the diversity statistics of investment managers. Additionally, Aliya helped create Prime Buchholz’s inaugural DEI publication, a document intended to highlight the exceptional DEI policies and programs of the top four investments managers based on the survey results. The DEI publication will be published annually by future interns, thus creating a long-lasting change to how Prime Buchholz reports the annual survey results.
