Certificate in Community Development Finance

This course is jointly offered by the Center for Impact Finance at the UNH's Carsey School of Public Policy & the Opportunity Finance Network (OFN). The earner of this badge has successfully completed a 3-week course studying the Fundamentals of the Opportunity Finance Industry. The learner has completed three modules focused on 1) History, Context and Current Status of the CDFI Field, 2) Financial Analysis of CDFIs and CDFI Loans, and 3) Impact Measurement and Public Policy.

Earning Criteria

  • This 3-week program requires a total of 10 hours of class time (4.5 virtual class hours and 5.5 self-study hours). Students attend a 90-minute live virtual class for each of the 3 weeks. Live virtual classes consist of teacher lecture, guest speakers, small discussion groups, and full class discussion. Other required coursework includes weekly readings, written discussion forums, and other class assignments.
  • A students’ grade is Pass/Fail. Course completion is dependent on successful attendance in virtual classes and satisfactory completion of weekly course work.
  • Students will be issued a Certificate in Community Development Finance issued through UNH and OFN upon successful course completion. OFN’s mission is to lead CDFIs and their partners to ensure that low-income, low-wealth, and other underserved people and communities have access to affordable, responsible financial products and services.
