Robert Mohr

We are delighted that Associate Professor Robert Mohr from the Department of Economics at the Paul College of Business and Economics is being recognized with the Excellence in Teaching Award. Excellence in teaching is more than just a matter of earning outstanding evaluations. It is about keeping current in the field. It is about introducing new pedagogy as technology and student capabilities change. It is about being able to cover a wide range of topics across multiple programs. It is about identifying a need within a program and delivering a worthwhile course that engages and excites students. Fortunately for Paul College, Robert has been able to accomplish all of that and more.

Within Paul College, we like to talk about continuous improvement. Robert is one of the professors who has fully embraced the concept. He is constantly experimenting with new approaches whether that be electronic learning platforms, classroom clickers or collaborative sessions designed to support the delivery of classroom material.

What is perhaps most impressive stems from the difficulty that many students have in learning economic principles and applying them to real world challenges. Robert is particularly adept at simplifying complex ideas and showing students how economics can contribute to the development of a better understanding of the world in which they live.
