Professor Robert Henry has demonstrated over the course of his career a singular commitment to the student experience, with a well-deserved reputation for accessibility, student support and high standards. For those of us who have known Bob, his energetic re-immersion into the classroom after years in an administrative role comes as no surprise, since student success has been at the foundation ofhis UNH activities.
Bob’s students recognize this, as well. As one student noted... “Professor Henry is passionate about teaching as he shows with his interactive lectures and examples. He cares about students’success not only in the classroom, but also in their abilities to apply the fundamentals of engineering to real life problems.”
His commitment to student success is not limited to the course she is teaching. As another student observes, “While I did not have Dr. Henry as my professor for [CEE 500-Statics for Civil Engineers], he still helped me out a lot. I knew I was having trouble with it and needed some more outside help.... Sometimes I was in his office for 15 minutes, other times it was 1.5 hours. I am very thankful for Dr. Henry's help with Statics and blessed to have him as my professor for project engineering.”
Generosity of spirit and full-fledged commitment to students is distinctive of Bob Henry, and the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences is fortunate to count Bob Henry as one of our faculty members. We are pleased to award to him the 2016 CEPS Teaching Award.
