Mary Wiley

Mary Wiley is a natural teacher who can make both challenging and routine material exciting and can motivate students to perform beyond their expectations.  She brings fun to the classroom: teaching students how to perform CPR on companion animals, she gives them two options for remembering the correct pace for chest compressions: singing either“Stayin’ Alive” by the BeeGees, or “Another One Bites the Dust” by Queen. (Many students probably have to look up these ‘old’ songs up on YouTube!) Mary’s humor and level-headedness make her an excellent veterinary technician and a superlative educator.

Mary has the patience needed to guide students as they learn the physically and emotionally demanding tasks of the veterinary technician role.  She can provide the confidence boost they may need after disappointments, and celebrates with them when they succeed.  As a certified Veterinary Technician Specialist, she is a role model of the highest level achievable in the profession. Serving as advisor to the campus Vet Tech Club, and representing UNH and her profession at the state and national levels, she models for students how important service is to their vocation.

Mary Wiley is a wonderful mentor, a caring instructorand a skilled professional.
