In order to function effectively, a dean’s office must be both inward looking and outward looking. After all, it is the true “front line” when it comes to interacting with the entire gamut of University stakeholders. The administrative gatekeeper of such an office must be experienced, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful.

Carol Borg exemplifies this role within the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences, where she serves as the front line for working with current students, prospective students and their families, and dozens of colleagues within the college and university.

Carol is an important contributor to homecoming, open houses, orientation, awards ceremonies, and other events that make up the life of the college and make lasting impressions on students and alumni. Just to give you a sense of the scale of such events that Carol manages, each year Carol organizes the CEPS Admitted Student Visit Day where we have more than 1,000 prospective students and parents on campus at one time.

Since Carol started at CEPS six years ago, she has served as a mainstay during times of change. When a key position has gone unfilled for longer than proved ideal, Carol stepped in to take on added responsibilities in order to make the office run smoothly until the position was filled.

Without a person like Carol who takes pride in all the work she does, CEPS would be less successful in its efforts to serve students.
