Maxwell Smith

CPT Maxwell Smith was born and raised in Jamestown, New York and graduated from the United States Military Academy in 2015 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. Upon graduation, CPT Smith commissioned as an Infantry Officer and attended the Basic Officer Leadership Course at Fort Moore, GA. Following completion of IBOLC and follow on schools, CPT Smith was assigned to 2-70th Armor Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, Fort Riley, KS. While at Fort Riley, CPT Smith served as an Infantry Platoon Leader, Infantry Company Executive Officer, HHC Executive Officer, and deployed in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve to multiple locations in Eastern Europe.

Upon completion of the Maneuver Captain’s Career Course, CPT Smith was assigned to 2-87th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 10th Mountain Division at Fort Drum, NY. While a member of 2-87 IN, CPT Smith served as a S3 Plans Officer, the S3 Operations Officer, Commander of C/2-87 IN, and as the Commander of D/2-87 IN.  In 2023, while serving as the Commander of D/2-87 IN, CPT Smith and his Company deployed to Syria in support of Operation Inherent Resolve.

CPT Smith’s Professional Military Education include the Infantry Basic Officer Leadership Course, Air Assault School, Advanced Situational Awareness Course, the Bradley Leaders Course, Ranger School, Airborne School, Maneuver Captains Career Course, and Rappel Master, as well as a Master’s of Science in Organizational Leadership Degree from Columbus State University. His military awards and decorations include the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Expert Infantryman’s Badge, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf clusters, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Overseas Service Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge (Gold). In addition, CPT Smith has been inducted into the Order of Saint Maurice (Legionnaire).

CPT Smith is married to his wife Jessica and together they have three children, daughters Elowen and Adelyn, and a son, Rowan.

In addition SFC Alexander has been inducted into the Order of Saint Maurice (Legionnaire). Prior to his arrival at the University of New Hampshire SFC Alexander completed an assignment as a First Sergeant in 1st Battalion 27th Infantry Regiment “Wolfhounds”.
