LTC Andrew Ruszkiewicz


LTC Andrew Ruszkiewicz graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where
he earned a Bachelor’ degree in History and was commissioned as a Field Artillery Officer.  His first duty assignment was in the 6-37 Field Artillery Battalion at Camp Casey, Korea where he served as a Battery Platoon Leader and Company Executive Officer.  After serving one year in Korea, he was assigned as a Fire Support Officer to the 82d Airborne Division. During his time in the 82d Airborne Division, he served as a Battalion (BN) and Brigade (BDE) FSO. Following completion of the Maneuver Captains Career Course LTC Ruszkiewicz attended the ARSOF Civil Affairs Qualification Course (CAQC). Upon Graduation from CAQC, he was assigned to
the 91 st Civil Affairs Battalion (Special Operations) (Airborne) where he served as an assistant S3, Team Leader and Operations Chief in Echo Company, and as the Battalion Planning Chief.

LTC Ruszkiewicz then attended the Naval Post Graduate School at Monterey, California where he earned his Masters of Science in Political Warfare and Masters Certificate in Regional Security Studies in Sub-Saharan Africa. LTC Ruszkiewicz was subsequently assigned to III Corps HQs, Fort Hood, Texas where he served as an Operational Planner for CJTF-OIR and the G9 Operations Officer. Following one year at III Corps, he was assigned back to Fort Bragg where he commanded B/91 st CA BN (SO) (A), and served as a Battalion and then BDE Executive Officer in the 95 th CA BDE (SO) (A). LTC Ruszkiewicz then transitioned to United States Army Special Operations Command (USASOC) where he served as the Requirements and
Capabilities Integration chief in the Force Modernization Center prior to coming to UNH.

LTC Ruszkiewicz’s deployments include Fire Support Officer, (Afghanistan – 2007 -
2008); Team Leader (Chad - 2011); CMOC Chief (Afghanistan – 2012-2013); Civil Affairs
Planning Team Chief (East Africa – 2014); Operational Planner (OIR – 2016) Company
Commander (Somalia 2017-2018).

LTC Ruszkiewicz’s military education includes: Airborne School, Field Artillery
Officer’s Basic Course, Maneuver Captains Career Course, Joint Firepower Control Course,
French Language School, ARSOF Civil Affairs Qualification Course, SERE-C, Intermediate
Level Education (Naval War College) and he is a Distinguished Graduate of the Naval Post
Graduate School’s Defense Analysis Program along with numerous other tactical courses.
LTC Ruszkiewicz’s decorations and awards include the Bronze Star, Meritorious Service
Medal with two oak leaf clusters, Joint Service Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster,
Army Commendation Medal with oak leaf cluster, Joint Service Achievement Medal, Army
Achievement Medal with oak leaf cluster, Navy Achievement Medal, Afghanistan Campaign
Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal,
Korea Defense Service Medal, Combat Action Badge, Senior Parachutist Badge, and German
Parachutist Badge.

LTC Ruszkiewicz is married to the former Ms. Monica Hughes. They have three children, sons
Tucker, age 9, Luke age 3, and daughter, Blair, age 6.
