MAJ James D. Moats


MAJ James Moats arrived to the University of New Hampshire 01 March 2021. Prior to this assignment, MAJ Moats served as Field Artillery and TRADOC advisor to the Royal Saudi Land Forces with Unites States Military Training Mission, CENTCOM December 2019 – February 2021. As a Captain MAJ Moats Commanded the New Hampshire
Recruiting Company, USAREC December 2016 – November 2020. MAJ Moats served as the Assistant Operations Officer for 1-9 Field Artillery June 2015 – November 2016. 

MAJ Moats served the 3-17 CAV Squadron out of Hunter Army Airfield as the Squadron Fire Support Officer June 2014 – June 2015. During his time as a Lieutenant MAJ Moats served in 1-77 Field Artillery as an Executive Officer, Platoon Leader, and Fire Direction Officer in Alpha Battery, 1-77 FA. He also served as the Quick Reaction Force Platoon Leader while assigned to Service Battery 1-77 FA January 2011 – October 2013.

MAJ Moats Commissioned through the Army Officer Candidate School in April 2010. He
attended the Field Artillery Basic Officer Leader Course May –December 2010. He graduated the Field Artillery Captains Career Course in June 2014. MAJ Moats holds a Master’s in Leadership and Management from Webster University.

His awards and decorations include the Purple Heart, Meritorious Service Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster, Army Commendation Medal with 3 Oak Leaf clusters, Army Achievement Medal with 2 Oak Leaf clusters, Army Good Conduct Medal 3rd Award, Combat Action Badge, and the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.
